UniPiaget participates in the start-up meeting of the Phymepalu International Project, held at the University Félix HOUPHOUET-BOIGNY (UFHB) in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, from June 3 to 5, 2024.
As part of the PHYMEPALU project "Study and galenic observational formulation of phyto-drugs for the management of malaria in the CEDEAO countries, professor and researcher Lara Ferrero Gómez represented Unipiaget at the first meeting and official launch of the project, at the Félix HOUPHOUËT-BOIGNY University in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire
During the three-day meeting (june 3-5), the official launch ceremony of the PHYMEPALU Project was held and two conferences speeches were given by the project's collaborating focal points from Ghana and Cabo Verde: prof. Dr. Banga, Director of the Institute of Traditional and Alternative Medicine at the University of Health and allied Sciences in Ghana, and prof. Dr. Lara Ferrero Gómez, from UniPiaget. Several meetings were also held with researchers and institutions involved in the project's area of interest, which is based on new university research paradigms with a view to obtaining antimalarial treatments based on the African pharmacopoeia.
The PHYMEPALU Project was selected by the 2020 ediction of the ECOWAS Research and Innovation Support Program (PARI) and the research funds were made available in April 2024. The PHYMEPALU consortium is led by researcher Professor Jean David N'GUESSAN of the Félix HOUPHOUËT-BOIGNY University and is made up of 11 members from five Higher Education and research establishments in Cape Verde, Ghana and Costa de Marfim. Cape Verde is represented by Prof. Dilson Pereira and Prof. Lara Ferrero Gómez from Jean Piaget University.
