Objectives

The course aims to offer professionals the opportunity to complement their experience with specific and up-to-date knowledge. For recent graduates, it provides an in-depth education to prepare them for work in a highly specialized and competitive context.

Specifically, the goal is for master's students to develop knowledge, attitudes, and skills throughout and at the end of their training, which will enable them to:

• Foster journalistic creativity, always accompanied by a reflective attitude;
• Develop activities related to communicative mediation processes in contexts of diversity;
• Conceive, plan, develop, manage, and evaluate informative programs, projects, and actions, whether formal or informal, appropriate to the social and professional contexts where individuals interact;
• Participate efficiently and effectively in the administration and management of social or institutional communication systems and organizations.

Entry Profile

The candidate for the Master's Degree in Specialized Journalism must meet the requirements defined by Cape Verdean legislation, fulfilling the conditions for admission to postgraduate education, that is, holding a higher education degree that confers a Bachelor's degree.

Thus, candidates with degrees in various scientific areas who wish to acquire skills to perform technical functions, and/or administration, supervision, and management in the media and information field, formal and informal, will be accepted.

Employability

Newsrooms in media organizations (radio, television, print media). Institutions involved in supervision, coordination, evaluation, and quality of information. Another possible professional outlet is communication offices of companies, institutions, or non-governmental and international organizations.
