From February 28 to March 14, 2024, Jean Piaget University of Cape Verde, in collaboration with the Cape Verdean Association for Ecotourism, will host the second exhibition of the Ocean Literacy Cycle at its Media Library. This event will focus on coral communities and seagrass meadows on Santiago Island, aiming to raise awareness about ocean preservation and its vital role in environmental sustainability.
Ocean literacy, as defined by UNESCO, highlights the profound connection between the ocean and humanity. This interdisciplinary theme spans various fields such as biology, geography, nutrition, sports, and medicine. The initiative reflects Jean Piaget University's ongoing commitment to disseminating knowledge and fostering sustainable practices that benefit both the marine environment and coastal communities.
The second edition of the Ocean Literacy Cycle also underscores the importance of sustainable marine resource use, following up on previous initiatives such as the workshop on the valorization of marine macroalgae and the empowerment of local communities. These efforts showcase Cape Verde's role in environmental preservation and the responsible use of its natural resources.
Through this exhibition, Jean Piaget University reaffirms its dedication to educating and inspiring both the academic community and society at large about the importance of the ocean, contributing to a more sustainable future for the archipelago.

“Offshore Wind Farms Development and Safety of Navigation”
In context, it is impossible to ignore the increasing consumption of fuels and other types of renewable energy, along with environmental contamination. These are some of the reasons that drive humanity to seek more abundant and less polluting energy options, such as wind energy. This protects the planet while ensuring the development of wind farms and the safety of navigation.
