The University Jean Piaget of Cape Verde carried out, between April 27 and May 8, a training program in deaf care aimed at health professionals from the Praia Health Delegation. The training concluded last Friday and was part of a university extension initiative promoted by the institution.
The initiative was delivered by deaf students from the Education Sciences program at UniPiaget and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to social inclusion, accessibility, and the connection between academia and the community.
During the training, 20 health professionals, including doctors, nurses, and psychologists, were trained and had the opportunity to develop basic communication skills in Portuguese Sign Language (LGP), as well as strategies for interacting with deaf patients.
The action contributed to strengthening more inclusive, humanized, and effective care practices, highlighting the role of the University Jean Piaget of Cape Verde in promoting university extension initiatives with significant social impact.
