
The United Nations, represented by its Resident Coordinator in Cape Verde, Patrícia Portela, carried out an institutional visit to the Jean Piaget University of Cape Verde on April 24, 2026, with the aim of learning about the different operational structures of the University.
The Resident Coordinator was accompanied by the Head of the United Nations Office in Cape Verde, António Pires, and was welcomed by a UniPiaget team led by the Rector, Joanita C. Rodrigues, accompanied by the Administrator, Maria Elisabete de Pina, the Vice-Rector, Dilson Pereira, Engineer Verónica Pires, Master Neusa Melo, and Dr. Lara Gomez.
During the visit, the institution’s main academic, laboratory, technological, and administrative spaces were presented, as well as the projects and initiatives developed in the different areas of education and intervention of the University.
At the end of the visit, Patrícia Portela expressed satisfaction with the work carried out by UniPiaget, highlighting the institution’s relevance within the Cape Verdean higher education landscape. On the occasion, she also challenged the University to adopt an even more proactive approach and strengthen its strategic positioning in the areas where it has greater robustness and recognition.
