
As part of strengthening institutional partnerships and promoting health and scientific research in Cape Verde, the Jean Piaget University of Cape Verde received, on April 28, 2026, a visit from the representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Cape Verde, Ann Lindstrand, accompanied by Dr. Carlota Pacheco Vieira, from the WHO office.
The delegation was welcomed by a team from the Jean Piaget University of Cape Verde, led by the Rector, accompanied by the Vice-Rector, the coordinator of the Tropical Diseases Research Group, the coordinator of the Integrated Master’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Specialization in Compounding of Oncological Medicines, as well as the institution’s General Administrator.
The main objective of the visit was to present the projects, programmes, and initiatives developed by UniPiaget in the field of Health, with emphasis on scientific research initiatives, advanced training, community intervention, and technical capacity-building in strategic areas for the country’s sustainable development.
During the meeting, experiences and perspectives for cooperation were shared in areas related to public health, tropical diseases, pharmaceutical sciences, and health innovation, highlighting UniPiaget’s commitment to high-quality academic education focused on contemporary challenges and social impact.
At the end of the visit, the WHO representative expressed satisfaction regarding the work carried out by the University, praising the institution’s dynamism, the relevance of the projects presented, and UniPiaget’s scientific and academic potential. On the occasion, Ann Lindstrand also showed willingness to strengthen, together with other members of the organization, opportunities for collaboration and support for the University’s initiatives in the health sector.
