The Language Center of Jean Piaget University of Cabo Verde held, on March 20, 24, and 25, an Open Lecture Series in Spanish dedicated to reflecting on gender equality and diversity. Aimed primarily at Spanish language students, the initiative was open to the entire academic community and was part of the celebrations of the institution’s 25th anniversary.
The event featured international experts who shared experiences and knowledge on current and relevant topics. On March 20, Aurora García Encinas, from Fundación Triángulo, addressed the foundations of the LGBTIQ+ community reality. On March 24, Thaïs González Capella, from the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), discussed the importance of promoting changes in decision-making processes to transform society. Finally, on March 25, María Victoria Seoane Rodicio, from Fundación Religiosos para la Salud, highlighted the role of cooperation as a tool to drive social transformation.
The sessions were conducted in Spanish and included interactive activities with students, creating a space for intercultural dialogue. Among the topics addressed were intersectional feminism and the prevention and fight against Gender-Based Violence (GBV), contributing to a broader understanding of diversity and inclusion in Cape Verdean society.
