From June 24 to 28, the coordinator of GIDTPiaget, prof. Dr. Lara Ferrero Gómez, attended the 4th West African Aedes Survillance network (WAASuN), which took place in Dakar, Senegal, as part of the country's team, represented by the National Institute of Public Health and Unipiaget.
With more than 60 full members from 19 countries and international partners, WAASuN is a non-profit organization that aims to strengthen the capacity of West African countries to carry out surveillance and control arboviral diseases and promote regional stability and prosperity.
Each year the network grows, this year with more than 80 participants under the slogan "improving vector surveillance through diagnostics and genomics for outbreaks and disease preparedness". There were five productive days of discussion and sharing on the latest studies and evidence from each country and on the development of the network. GIDTPiaget presented two recent successful studies; Tintaedes and Espiá nos terra, and became part of the new WAASuN Scientific Subcommittee.
